Can I wear headphones?

Yes, but we ask that you keep the volume down at a safe level so that you can hear other runners or instructions from event personnel. We also ask that you remove at least one earbud when coming to aid stations, in a large crowd, or on more technical or difficult sections of the course. The important thing is paying attention to everyone's safety and maintaining basic race etiquette with other runners.

 

Can I register on the day of the race?

Yes, you can! Race day registration will start at 6:30 am and close at 8:00 am.

How much does race registration cost?

Fees are $20 for individuals who register between July 1 and September 10, 2021. $30 for individuals who register between September 3 and up till 8 am on race day. Signing up by August 15th will guarantee a race T-shirt.

 

Will there be age group awards?

Yes, the age categories are:

12 and under| 13 - 19 | 19 - 29 | 30 - 39| 40 - 49 | 50 - 59 | 60 - 69 | 70 - 79| 80+

 Details are included with the pre-race and post-race e-mails.

 

Who are the overall winners?

In the race we will award the top three male and top three female runners. The winners will receive hand-made local pottery.

 

When/where do I pick up my bib and race packet?

If you registered by midnight on September 1st, your bib and T-shirt can be picked up at Watauga Sheriff Department in Boone on Friday, September 9th (5:00 pm-8 Park at the church across from the WCSO Department. Race morning pick-up will also be available. You may have another person (family member or friend) pick up your race packet for you. The person picking up your race packet will need the following: Confirmation Email and His or Her photo ID.

 

Will there be somewhere to leave my warm-up clothes?

Yes, there will be a sweat-check area and these will be checked in and watched over by a volunteer. Please do not leave valuables in your sweat bags, as we cannot be responsible for these items.

 

I am a very slow runner. Am I going to be out of place?

You won't be out of place at all. Our races are planned for participants of all abilities, including walkers/hikers.

 

Is there a time limit?

The race will start at 8:30 am and should be over no later than 10:30 am.

Is there anything I am not allowed to have during the race?

We ask that you do not bring your bicycles, roller blades, animals, or large personal belongings with you while you are running/walking the race.

 

Will the race be cancelled if it rains?

No! The race will be held, rain or shine.

Do you issue refunds?

We do NOT issue refunds. However, we WILL credit you with 50% or 75% of your entry toward a future race if you let us know in advance

At least 2 weeks: 75% credit

At least 72 hours: 50% credit

 

Can I host a cheer zone or water station?

Yes! Contact the race director Carol Cook at huntersheroes2013@gmail.com about hosting a cheer zone or water station.
