Meet Weight and Performance Goals With A Whole Diet
If you are trying to meet both weight and performance goals, you might want to look at what you are eating! It is important to eat whole foods that are as close to their natural state as possible. A common trend for athletes is to grab those energy bars, nutrient enhanced drinks, and fortified packaged foods. Not saying these are all bad within themselves, but the problem comes when this is all you are taking in on a daily basis to fuel your body. Are you eating any “real” food- fruits, vegetables, whole grains, healthy oils, lean protein?
The less processed foods you consume, the better it will be for your overall health and fitness level. Some tips when grocery shopping is to stay on the outer rim of store because these foods tend to be more in their natural state. If you focus on food quality over quantity, you will satisfy your appetite, and will be less likely to consume more calories than you actually need. When you eat better, you will feel better. Give your body what it needs, and eat a more whole diet!
